Monday Media Mirth (Ants, Hitchhikers, and Snowmen)

Howdy,

A collection of trivia is not usually the type of internet clip I go for.  But A: you can watch it if your speakers are broken and not miss much, and B:  Ants.  That tidbit about ants.  Dang.

Now, I reserve the right to refer to the Watterson snowmen as often as possible.  But for now, I will simply settle for my favorite.  It is cold enough outside that it feels quite seasonal.

Now, Magnolia had a special kind of trailer. The director had the cast and introduce themselves just for this trailer. Also, it is a trailer that was actually shot by the director himself. Madness.

And come on, as the trailer shows, that film has a rather amazing cast. Also, I think I have used up my monthly allotment of the word, “trailer”. Trailer trailer trailer. 😉

Orson Welles did one of the earliest, and one of the best episodes of Suspense.  It was done numerous times afterwards, even as an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents.  I like the orignal the best, darnit.

And then there is Dalton Trumbo.  A screenwriter who became a figure of character.  The HUAC almost ended his career.  Which led to this rather frustrated letter that he wrote.  You really should read the whole thing, but here is my favorite part.

(I have) stood silent in the chamber of liars.” -Dalton Trumbo

Happy Monday.  Play nice.
