I made a mistake.
Once a week I make a point to not have my phone with me. That day is Sunday. Then, a different day of the week, I leave my tablet at home. That day changes. It reminds me that I am not that important and that no one needs to get my attention that quickly. Also, I have an addictive personality and I like to keep that in check, thankyouverymuch.
There is always the risk that the day I leave my tablet at home, the day that I travel with less tonnage; that I will run out of things to do. Today was that day.
The book I was reading contained over five hundred pages. No way I would read it all before I got home, right? Sadly, I lost interest in the book. I thought it might be a cute romantic romp. Halfway through I discovered that it was all-in for all the sex in all the chapters. I did not sign up for that. Book discarded.
Now I am bored. Bored because I can only look at so many internet pages. Bored because I still have a long commute home and now I will have to look out the window. At trees. At nature. . At the world around me.
Egads! Whatever shall I do? No screens or media to entertain me? How will my brain ever survive?
Alone with my thoughts? What kind of dystopian world is this?
(Oh, hey. I think there is a book about that.)
