Howdy,
Neil Patrick Harris. Joseph Gordon-Levitt. If there are two spiffier three-name fellows out there, I certainly do not know them. And should they do a live comedy sketch together? Well then let us glaze over the profanity here and there and chuckle along.
And since chuckles are always welcome:
I hopped over to www.gocomics.com and this cartoon popped up. It is funny because it is far too true. So why not?
Dude. The Rocketeer. Come on! Back in the 90’s, before Disney bought Marvel or even dreamed of making movies like Big Hero 6 or The Incredibles, they put out this fine film. (It is based on a comic book, so bonus points if you knew that.) Joe Johnston would later go on to direct Captain America, and the two flicks together make for a great 1940’s double feature. Alan Arkin! Terry O’Quinn as Howard Hughes!!! The effects may not hold up, but the charm certainly does. Art Deco and Jennifer Connelly make for a delightful popcorn flick.
Oh, The Whistler. I was probably in the single digits when I first heard this broadcast and it holds the honor of being the first piece of media that scared the ever-living-patoots outta me. All kinds of creepy. However, it all wrapped up in a well-crafted story. The imagination gets put to work, placing all the voices and mental images in one’s head. A classic in my collection.
I already gushed about How to Train Your Dragon 2 back when it was in theaters. But it comes out on DVD tomorrow! Hence, I feel justified in closing with my favorite quote from that terrific movie.
“We are the voice of peace, and bit by bit, we will change this world.” –How to Train Your Dragon 2”
Happy Monday. Play nice.
